What’s the plan?
Tarthang Rinpoche recently invited a group of senior students located in different regions of the world to start realizing large World Peace Stupa’s in Japan, South America, Middle East and Europe.
The Stupa, ancient symbol of the potential for peace and enlightenment will be surrounded by circumambulation pathways and a meditation garden.There will also be a sacred practice space inside the stupa, beneath a super large prayerwheel which will be visible also from the outside.
The stupa will manifest to all its visitors the wordless power of goodness, peace and love and will help calm the forces of emotionality, violence and hatred that plague our world so much today. The stupa will be open to a general audience and visitors from all faiths.
This grand vision of Tarthang Rinpoche has come together with the long cherished wish of the European Nyingma Centers to open a retreat center close-by in natural surroundings: leading to the launch of the new World Peace Stupa Center Europe.
A new independent foundation – with representatives from the Dutch and the German Nyingma Centers in the board – will be formed to steer this inspiring and challenging plan initiative toward realization, guided by a coordinating committee installed by Rinpoche and chaired by his wife Yangchen Gellek.
The new European foundation is currently looking for an accommodation between the two city centers in Amsterdam and Cologne and will cooperate closely with the two city centers in organizing and promoting retreats, workstudy programs, sacred art projects and in building and funding the new World Peace Stupa.
A small residential practice community will live at the new Stupa Center full time, and many other practioners will be welcomed as regular part-time volunteers at the new rural retreat center. The center also aims to provide a meeting place for European Nyingma practice groups and individuals.
We invite you all to take part in this exciting new project. There will be plenty of ways in which you can support and participate. We will be looking for volunteers to help build and maintain the new World Peace Stupa, volunteers to create and maintain a permaculture garden and foodforest, volunteers to cook and clean and care for retreat programs. There is also room for at least three more permanent residents of the new facility.
And you can donate or give loans or help finance the plans in other ways.

Wat is het plan?
Tarthang Rinpoche heeft onlangs een groep senior studenten in uiteenlopende regio’s van de wereld uitgenodigd om te beginnen met het realiseren van grote World Peace Stupa’s in Japan, Zuid-Amerika, het Midden-Oosten en Europa.
De stoepa, symbool van ons potentieel voor vrede en verlichting, zal omringd worden door omgangspaden en een meditatietuin. Er zal ook een gewijde oefenruimte zijn binnenin de stoepa, onder een supergrote gebedsmolen die ook van buitenaf zichtbaar is.
De stoepa zal voor al zijn bezoekers de woordeloze kracht van goedheid, vrede en liefde manifesteren en zal helpen de krachten van emotionaliteit, geweld en haat te kalmeren die onze wereld vandaag de dag zo teisteren. Bezoeken van de stoepa is mogelijk voor bezoekers van alle afkomsten en religies.
Deze grootse visie van Tarthang Rinpoche is samengekomen met de lang gekoesterde wens van de Europese Nyingma Centra om tussen de twee centra ergens in de natuur een retraitecentrum te openen: dit heeft geleid tot de oprichting van het nieuwe World Peace Stupa Center Europe.
Een nieuwe onafhankelijke stichting – met vertegenwoordigers van de Nederlandse en Duitse Nyingma Centra in het bestuur – zal worden gevormd om dit inspirerende en uitdagende initiatief in goede banen te leiden. De projectgroepen op de diverse continenten worden begeleid door een coördinatiecommissie die door Rinpoche is ingesteld en wordt voorgezeten door zijn vrouw Yangchen Gellek.
De Europese stichting in oprichting is momenteel op zoek naar een lokatie tussen de twee stadscentra in en zal nauw samenwerken met de twee stadscentra in Amsterdam en Keulen bij het organiseren en promoten van retraites, werkstudie-programma’s, kunstprojecten en bij het bouwen en financieren van de nieuwe World Peace Stupa.
Een kleine residentiële oefengemeenschap zal fulltime in het nieuwe Stupa Centrum wonen en vele andere beoefenaars zijn welkom als regelmatige parttime vrijwilligers in het nieuwe retraite centrum. Het centrum is ook bedoeld als ontmoetingsplaats voor Europese Nyingma oefengroepen en individuen
We nodigen jullie allemaal uit om deel te nemen aan dit spannende nieuwe project. Er zijn veel manieren waarop je deel kunt nemen en ondersteunen. We zoeken vrijwilligers om de nieuwe World Peace Stupa te helpen bouwen en onderhouden, vrijwilligers om een ecologische tuin en voedselbos aan te leggen en te onderhouden, vrijwilligers om te koken, schoon te maken en voor retraiteprogramma’s te zorgen, vrijwilligers voor publiciteit , marketing en ontvangst van gasten. Er is ook nog ruimte voor minstens drie permanente bewoners van de nieuwe lokatie.
En je kunt geld doneren of lenen of op een andere manieren helpen de plannen te financieren.
