Nyingma Centrum Nederland werkt dit jaar in opdracht van Tarthang Tulku aan de vervaardiging van acht grote stupa’s van klei. Lees hier meer over dit speciale project waaraan in intensieve periodes van telkens twee weken gewerkt zal worden.

Op maandag 18 maart van 14.00 – 16.00 uur is Khenpo Kunga Dakpa te gast bij het stupaproject en we hebben hem gevraagd om iets te vertellen over de betekenis van stupa, en de verschillende wijzen van vervaardiging en gebruik. Marianne Moerbeek zal aan de Khenpo laten zien hoe de Buddhist Sacred Art studio werkt en de verschillende stappen van het maakproces nader uitleggen. Ook Steve Shumway is aanwezig: hij bouwde mee aan vele stupa’s die in opdracht van Tarthang Tulku overal ter wereld verrezen.

Alle eerdere deelnemers aan het stupa project, maar ook andere belangstellenden zijn van harte welkom om de bijeenkomst bij te wonen. Je bent ook van harte welkom om te komen als je belangstelling hebt om in een van de resterende zes periodes van het stoepaproject mee te komen werken.

Born in 1979, Khenpo Kunga Dakpa began his academic journey at Ngagyur Nyingma College, Mindrolling Monastic University in Northern India at the age of 19. Over nine years, he immersed himself in rigorous study, serving as an assistant lecturer for three years and later as a senior lecturer, assistant editor, secretary, and vice president. Conferred with the title of Khenpo in February 2018, his dedication stems from a genuine passion for teachings, with a focus on teaching about mental realities. His particular ardor lies in translating Tibetan-to-English Buddhist texts, aiming to bring the timeless wisdom of Dharma to a broader audience.


Walk-In class Stupa Project Amsterdam 2024

This year Nyingma Center Nederland is working on Tarthang Tulku’s special assignment to create eight large clay stupas. We will be working on this special sacred project in six periods of two weeks each plus some days in between as needed and possible. Participants are welcome to join for one period or all or something in-between. Read more about this special project here.

On Monday, March 18 2-4 pm , Khenpo Kunga Dakpa will be a honoured guest at the stupa project and we have asked him to tell something about the meaning of stupa, and the different ways of making and using them. Marianne Moerbeek will show Khenpo how the Buddhist Sacred Art studio works and explain in more detail the different steps of the making process. Steve Shumway will also be present: he helped to build many stupas all over the world, following Tarthang Tulku’s guidance.

All previous participants in the stupa project, as well as other interested persons are very welcome to attend the meeting. You are of course very welcome to attend if you are interested in joining us in any of the remaining six periods of the stupa project.
